Production with a heart for sustainability

As one of the few vertically-integrated denim production facilities, Citizens of Humanity manufactures all products in its own sewing room and laundry. This gives the label complete control over the quality of the products. Before a pair of jeans reaches the customer, it passes through at least forty hands. With sustainability and innovation at its core, the denim fabrics are cut using automated machines to maximize efficiency and minimize fabric waste. It takes up to fifty different steps to make a simple pair of five-pocket jeans. As a company based in California, a state that is frequently subject to droughts, Citizens of Humanity is committed to reducing water consumption in every step of the production process. The company has implemented new techniques that reduce its global footprint, such as laser technology, a proprietary ozone process and high-efficiency washing machines.
