The story of Barena begins with the Venetian entrepreneur Sandro Zara, who founded his own menswear brand in the 1980s. The Italian has long been interested in the history of his country and shows a special devotion to high-quality clothing and traditional tailoring.
From the beginning, his designs are simple and minimalist, closely linked to tradition and craftsmanship. The Italian fashion house finds inspiration in the style of the Venetian countryside. The name Barena derives from the Italian "baro", which can be translated as "emerged land" - a reference to the Venetian countryside, where both fishing and hunting were practiced.
