But that's exactly what makes the founding story all the more exciting: Australian surfer Brian Smith founded the label with the iconic lambskin boots in Southern California in 1978. The idea: comfortable like a slipper, super light and warm. In the beginning, the boots were intended for the cold feet of surfers and therefore quickly became a popular accessory on the beaches of California. In the early 2000s, the statement shoes finally conquered the rest of the world.
