Mariage Frères: The oldest tea house in France
Behind the teas from Mariage Frères is a long tradition and pure passion for tea. The Maison de Thé at Mariage Frères is the oldest tea house still in existence in France. It was founded on June 1, 1854, so it can already look back on almost 170 years of existence.
The founders, the two brothers Edourard and Henri Mariage, took the family heritage in a new direction with their manufactory. As traders in tea, spices and oriental goods, the family had been involved in importing tea to France since 1660. Even at this time, Nicolas Mariage was personally commissioned by King Louis XIV to import teas from Persia for the royal court, among other things.
Even today, well over 300 years later, Mariage Frères is still committed to tradition. Exclusive teas are still the brand's passion. Between refined and mild, the French company delights with teas in classic and flavored blends as well as vintage varieties that are unparalleled on the market. The aim is always to seduce true tea connoisseurs and lovers time and time again.
